Subscription and License Key Questions

A subscription is an annual purchase, product updates, and support. More specific answers to subscription questions can be found below.

Auto-renewals are turned on by default and can be switched off on the My Account page. More details on auto-renewals can be found here.

On how many sites can I use a subscription?

We offer three subscription tiers that each have a different limit:

  • Single: 1 site activation
  • Business: 5 site activations
  • Agency: 250 site activations 1

1 We have a Fair Use policy for the Agency tier. The purpose of this tier is for agencies and developers to activate Admin Columns on websites they are involved with and do so as often as needed. If you are, for example, a hosting company and redistribute Admin Columns to your customers, this tier is not for you. Contact us to discuss the possibilities, we always try to work something out.

What is considered an activation?

When you activate Admin Columns Pro we look at the URL of your website. We only use the hostname itself e.g. admincolumns.com

The following websites are considered the same activation:

  • www.admincolumns.com (with www)
  • admincolumns.com (without www)
  • admincolumns.com/ (with a trailing slash)
  • admincolumns.com/subfolder (subfolder)

Subdomains are counted as new activations, we can hopefully successfully exclude them in the future to no longer make this the case.

Is a WordPress Multisite Network a single activation?

A WordPress Multisite counts as a single activation when you activate it for the entire network.

Are development and staging websites considered an activation?

You can activate them to get updates and support, but they will not count towards your activation limit.

Local development should always be detected and not count towards your activation limit. We also have quite a few rules in place to detect if a website is a staging site or not. We also have a list of popular staging domains we always exclude:

  • .cloudwaysapp.com
  • .cloudwaysapps.com
  • .flywheelsites.com
  • .flywheelstaging.com
  • .kinsta.cloud
  • .kinsta.com
  • .wpengine.com

If you activate Admin Columns Pro it will give you feedback if a development or staging site was found.

WordPress Multisite Network

On a WordPress Multisite, all plugins are stored in one location. When you update your plugin in the Network Admin, all sub-sites receive the update. For product access, support, and product updates, a Single license key is required per Multisite Network.

What is a license key?

A License key allows for an active subscription to have product access and receive product updates and support. With each subscription you get one license key. Here is an example key:  78a8844e2-dummy-key-90e3-267a93de . A license key is valid for a limited amount of time, by default this is 1 year.

The license key is used on your WordPress installation to receive plugin updates for Admin Columns Pro. More details on how to activate a license key can be found here.

Are subscriptions valid for a lifetime?

No, each key is valid from the date of purchase and for as long as your subscription is in effect.

How do I renew my subscription?

If auto-renew is enabled, your subscription renews on the due date and this date your card is charged. Email notification and receipt are sent to confirm you paid for another year.

You are sent a renewal reminder email 30, 14, 7, and 2 days prior to the subscription renewal date. You can also find renewal information on the My Account page. These emails are also sent if auto-renew is disabled.

How much does it cost to renew my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed annually at 100% of the current price. Coupon codes or other promotional discounts do not apply to renewals.

What do I receive when renewing my subscription?

Renewing your subscription provides product access and entitles you to support and product updates. This ensures compatibility with newer versions of WordPress and Admin Columns Pro, as well as bug fixes and new features and enhancements to the product.

What happens if my subscription expires or is deactivated?

If your subscription has expired or did not auto-renew, you won't able to change the column settings and can no longer access the file for download or receive support or updates for the product.

Many of our store owners download their product(s) before the expiration of their subscription to keep a copy on file, if they know they cannot or will not renew. Our support team will not offer the download files if your subscription is expired.

If you are having trouble with the product, check our Changelog to see if an update may help address the issue. When a product is not working, updating should always be the first step when troubleshooting.

How do I deactivate my license key or transfer it to another site?

To deactivate your license key and reactivate on another site, deactivate the license key from the License - My Account page. The key can then be activated on the new site to start receiving support and updates for that URL.

Can I transfer a subscription to a new owner?

If you like a subscription to be transferred, please contact our support team, and they can transfer the subscription for you.
